Big Brothers Big Sisters
We had almost 640 repeat 9th graders in our public schools during the 2008/2009 school year. They need a Caring Adult to help them set a path to success, someone to believe in them, and someone to help them.
How about you? With your friendship and guidance the student will grow in confidence and learn to consider their future in new ways.
Commitment
- One hour weekly at the student's school between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- You may spend additional time with the student outside of school
- Maintain your relationship with the student for one year
Requirements
- A caring heart, a willingness to listen and treat young people with respect
- A dedication to being there each week
- Over 20 years old or a 2nd semester college freshman in a local college
- Resident or employed in Forsyth County
- Complete WS/FCS Volunteer Service Application & screening
- Complete BBBS interview and training, and a home visit if you want to spend time with the student outside of school
